One of the biggest obstacles for many businesses when deciding what to advertise is making the commercial. Most would rather not be bothered or prefer to do nothing rather than have to go through the process of figuring out what to advertise.
Here is a simple method you can use. The first thing to identify is what is it that makes you different. That thing that makes you better than your competitor. The reason your business is famous. Follow that up with a vision of what happens when I as a consumer do business with you, the business. What is the result of doing business with you? When I spend my money with you and on your goods and services, what happens next (ie: I save money in the long run, I look better, I feel better etc)? Combine these two elements and you have the makings of a fantastic, consistent message for and about your business.
The other approach you can take is to solve a problem, a common problem for most consumers. There about 8 very common consumer complaints about businesses (parking, physical appearance, pricing, active v. passive, selection, advertising, hours of operation, customer service). For instance, if you are in the oil change business, maybe you work 1 day a week until midnight and that becomes your point of differentiation. With this, you can own the hours of operation/convenience position in your business category.
Not sure how to do this or how to take the first step? We can help. Call Connie Hayes to schedule an appointment – 806-748-2404 or call me directly at 806-748-2405. We will be happy to show how to take a position on the South Plains and own it, using radio to deliver the message with frequency.
